Georgia and IWGA Sign a Historic Memorandum of Understanding

The National Sports Organization of Georgia (NSO) and the International World Games Association (IWGA) have entered a new chapter of cooperation by signing a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a strategic partnership between the two organizations.

Purpose and Significance of the Memorandum

The Memorandum of Understanding signed in Lausanne, Switzerland, marks a significant milestone in Georgia’s integration into the international sports community. The document was executed in English in two original counterparts and entered into force upon signature.

Both parties share a common commitment to advancing physical culture and sport for the benefit of society while upholding the core values of excellence, participation, and sustainability.

IWGA’s Commitments to Georgia

Under the Memorandum, the International World Games Association (IWGA) undertakes a number of specific commitments in support of Georgia’s National Sports Organization, aimed at strengthening cooperation, expanding international engagement, and promoting the development of non-Olympic sports and the World Games movement in Georgia.

Georgia has also undertaken a series of important commitments, including facilitating the international recognition of national sports federations during The World Games (TWG) open season, supporting IWGA in negotiations with broadcasters, identifying potential future host cities, and maintaining comprehensive databases containing athletes’ biographical information and performance records.

Legal Status of the Memorandum

The Memorandum entered into force on the date of its signature and shall remain effective for an indefinite period. Any amendments or termination of the agreement may be made only upon the mutual written consent of both parties.
